General Policy

In the academic year 2026–2027, Study Association Complex will place its primary focus on the two focus points ‘Support’ and ‘Community’. With these focus points, the board hopes to create an association in which members feel supported in their personal, academic and professional development, while also feeling connected to the people and community around them. Through the initiatives outlined in this policy plan, Complex aims to become a place where members can develop, participate, connect and feel at home.

Policy Plan 2026–2027

The Policy Plan for the 2026–2027 academic year sets out the goals and initiatives of the 34th board of Study Association Complex. This year, our policy is centred around two focus points: Support and Community.

With these focus points, we want to ensure that Complex is not only a place where psychology students can develop academically and professionally, but also a community where members feel supported, connected and valued. Throughout the year, we aim to create opportunities for members to develop, participate, connect and feel at home within Complex.

Support

Supporting our members is an important part of Complex. This year, we want to pay attention not only to study-related support, but also to social safety, mental wellbeing, personal wellbeing and personal development.

Social Safety

We strive to make social safety more visible and accessible within Complex. Members should know where they can go when they need support, want to report something, or simply have a question.

Throughout the year, we will continue to highlight our Confidential Contact Persons (CCPs), available support channels and the Code of Conduct. The website will also provide a clear overview of social safety information, including the different options for seeking help or reporting concerns.

In addition, we will organise two dedicated social safety awareness campaigns during the academic year. The first will focus on social integration and creating an inclusive and welcoming association culture. The second will focus on sexual safety, consent, active bystandership and recognising transgressive behaviour, in connection with the Are You Okay? campaign. These campaigns will combine online content with interactive elements and physical materials around Complex.

Mental Wellbeing

We strive to integrate mental wellbeing into Complex’s activities and communication throughout the year. Rather than treating wellbeing as a separate topic, we want to incorporate it into the existing activities and communication of the association.

Committees will be encouraged to include wellbeing-related elements where appropriate, such as healthy study habits, taking breaks, encouraging social connections or sharing practical tips. We will also pay attention to relevant awareness days and periods throughout the year.

During demanding periods such as exam weeks, Complex will share practical information and reminders about maintaining healthy study habits. In addition, we aim to organise a relaxing activity after at least one exam period, giving members an opportunity to take a break from studying and connect with others.

Personal Health and Relationships

We strive to support personal wellbeing by providing accessible information on topics such as sexual health, relationships, LGBTQ+ inclusivity and menstrual health.

As a practical initiative, sanitary products will be made available in both Complex rooms, ensuring that members can access them when needed. Through accessible information and practical initiatives, we want to make personal wellbeing a more visible and approachable part of Complex.

Internship & Personal Development

We strive to support members’ personal and career development through existing activities and stronger collaboration with Tilburg University.

We will continue activities such as Experience Your Future, Trial Lectures, Student for a Day and other professional development activities, while strengthening our contact with teachers and programme directors.

A new initiative this year is an Internship Information Session, planned together with Tilburg University. This session will provide information about internships as well as practical workshops to help students prepare for the internship process.

Community

Complex is more than a study association; we strive to strengthen our community by creating more opportunities for members to meet new people, get involved and feel valued.

Transparency

We strive to increase transparency by giving members more insight into what is happening within Complex and what the board is working on. By making information more accessible and communicating more openly, we aim to strengthen members’ involvement and sense of community.

The website will be further developed as a central information point. In addition to activity information and practical information, several new or improved sections will be introduced.

These include a dedicated page explaining what a board year entails, with information about the application process, responsibilities and important dates. The committee overview will also be redesigned to make the different types of committees and their workload clearer.

The website will additionally contain accessible information about social safety and wellbeing, including available support and reporting channels. Practical information for international students, such as information about housing and insurance, will remain available as well.

On social media, we will continue using Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and WhatsApp to keep members informed and involved. We aim to increase Complex’s online reach while making our communication more interactive and relevant to our members.

Member Moment

We strive to make members feel appreciated through initiatives like Member Moment, where members can recognise and celebrate each other throughout the year.

At least four times during the year, members will be able to nominate another member who they believe deserves some recognition. Members can explain why they appreciate this person, for example because they are supportive, enthusiastic or committed to Complex.

Nominations will also earn UCB points, and a selected nomination will be shared through our Close Friends Instagram story. In this way, Member Moment creates a recurring opportunity to recognise the people who contribute to the Complex community.

Committee News

We strive to strengthen member engagement and transparency by giving committees a regular space in the Members Mail to share updates, activities and other relevant information.

Through Committee News, members can gain a better understanding of what is happening within the different committees and discover the ways in which other members contribute to Complex. This also creates an accessible way for committees to share their work beyond their own committee.

The website will additionally provide clearer information about the different committees, including each committee’s purpose, activities and expected workload. This should make it easier for members to discover the different ways they can become involved in Complex.

UCB Engagement

We strive to increase UCB engagement through monthly polls, clearer communication and a visible leaderboard, encouraging committees and members to actively participate.

The Ultimate Committee Battle (UCB) will continue to be a way for committees to compete, participate and create shared memories throughout the year. Members will be able to vote anonymously for their favourite monthly submission, with the winning committee receiving additional UCB points.

A physical UCB overview will be placed in the boardroom, showing the current top three committees for each monthly challenge. We will additionally create a digital archive of UCB submissions, accessible through a QR code on the boardroom poster. This allows members to look back at previous submissions and memorable moments from throughout the year.

Members Weekend

We strive to strengthen the community through the Members Weekend, with active members receiving priority while remaining spots are opened to past and passive members.

The Members Weekend is intended to bring members together outside the usual activities of Complex and strengthen connections between people who are actively involved in the association. By opening remaining places to former active or passive members, we also want to create opportunities to reconnect with people who have previously been part of Complex.

In addition to the Members Weekend, we will organise an Active Members Welcoming Day and Active Members Thanking Day to strengthen the connection between active members and the association.

Activities & Connecting Members

Besides the initiatives described above, the board will organise several activities aimed at bringing members together and making it easier for members to become involved with Complex.

The year will include initiatives such as the Committee Information Session, Registration Drink and Opening Party, helping new and existing members get involved with Complex. Later in the year, the board aims to organise a Pre-Carnaval Party together with Study Association POLIS, as well as the Candidate Board Announcement and participation in the Tilburg University Cantus.

We will also organise at least three informal Boardroom Activities during the year. These activities are intended to create low-threshold opportunities for members to visit the boardroom, meet people outside their usual social circles and connect with others within Complex.

The Activity Committee will additionally organise several activities throughout the year, including a cantus, two activities, a gala and StockFest.

External Connections

Complex also wants to strengthen its connections with organisations outside the association. We will maintain our relationships with Tilburg University, the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, other study associations and Alumni Association Axon.

An important initiative is the Social Sciences Career Event Tilburg (SCT), organised together with other study associations. Through the SCT, we aim to connect psychology students with organisations and showcase different career opportunities within the social sciences.

We will also continue our collaboration with Café de Boekanier, our official local pub, and work on maintaining and developing partnerships with external organisations and sponsors.

Looking Ahead

The Policy Plan provides the framework for the 2026–2027 academic year, while leaving room for new ideas and opportunities throughout the year. Through the initiatives described above, we aim to strengthen both of our focus points: supporting our members and building a stronger community.

Whether it is through a social safety campaign, practical wellbeing information, an internship workshop, a Member Moment, Committee News, a UCB challenge, the Members Weekend or simply an informal moment in the boardroom, we want members to have more opportunities to develop, connect, participate and feel at home within Complex.
